Rooms and their Unique Names

The history of the entire Bengali literature divides into three eras. First era is called “Prachin Yug”(প্রাচীন যুগ). But some historians called this era by several other names like: Adyakal, Lyric Age, Hindu-Buddhist Yug, Adi
Yug, Pre-Turkic Yug, Gaur Yug etc. All our rooms are named after different Kābya- Grantha (কাব্যগ্রন্থ) of this Early medieval period. This is our ode to the rich heritage of Bengali literature.

  • Charjapada (চর্যাপদ)

    Charjapada is the oldest Kābya- Grantha written in the Bengali language in the Early medieval period. The authors of this gitipadavali were Sahajiya Buddhist Siddhacharyas.

    SriKrishna Kirtan is one composed by Baru Chandidas a Medieval Bengali poet. This is the second oldest demonstration of Bengali literary work discovered after the Caryāpada.

  • Behula (বেহুলা)

    Behula is the main character of Mansamangal, the well-known mangakavya of ancient Bengal. She was the wife of Lakhinder, son of Chand Saudagar. The story of Lakhinder and Behula is very popular in Bengali households.

    Maathur(মাথুর) stage is the deepest form of grief. This is caught in the composition of poet Shri Vidyapati. Vidyapati dived deep into Radha’s emotion about her sweet memory of Krishna.

    In the eighteenth century, the Subedar of Bengal was Murshidakuli Khan. He used despicable and brutal methods to collect revenue. In addition, there was the torture of Mugh, Firingi and Portuguese pirates at that time.

    • Common people's agriculture, business, as well as the killing of men, the rape of women, people were looking for refuge in religion. Chaitanya Dev passed away. Matovas could not be more in love with Vaishnavism, when Ananta thought of offering their pain and suffering to the eternally merciful Jagatjanani Mother, house-to-house Shakti worship began. Thinking of Uma Ma and Shyama Ma as symbols of power in the first phase, many songs were written, where people's sufferings and pains were attributed to these two forces. Two famous Shakta poets are Ramprasad and Kamalakanta.
